SCULPTURE BY TERRY L. H. SLADE

"THE PASSAGE OF TIME: FAMILY"  1999

In December of 1998, I made my first visit to the Oregon coast. The first day at the ocean, I made a ladder in the sand and photographed it. Just a few feet away I noticed a rock formation that had two forms that resembled ladders embedded in the rock. I photographed it. I gathered driftwood and constructed a small driftwood ladder. When I came to the great redwoods, I took the small ladder and photographed it leaning against the mammoth trees. I then took the ladder to the beach and photographed it on piles of driftwood. The following works are the result of those photographs. The pictures were scanned and printed on watercolor paper. Some were manipulated after the print
