Sculpture by Terry L. H. Slade "Hudson River Reflections" I was asked to produce a site-specific sculpture for the Albany, NY offices of KPMG. In that the offices are located facing the Hudson River, with a view of the hills beyond, the sculpture was designed to reflect the shapes of the view from the KPMG offices. The Hudson River was a vital link to the settlement and commerce of the Hudson River Valley and beyond. KPMG is a financial firm that has very close ties to business and commerce of the region so I wanted the work to examine the historical aspects of the New York State capital district. As viewers walk down the hallway, their movement interrupts the lights which in turn change the reflective patterns of the light. A person's image is also reflected in the mirrors, leaving the viewer to ponder one's place in time and, ultimately, one's responsibility to the history of the region and beyond. installed in October 1998--aluminum frame, hand cut and polished mirror, lights two sections each approximately 7' l x 14" h x 5" d |
