Terry Slade is an artist living in upstate New York about 150 miles from NYC. He has been interested in monuments for most of his 20 year career producing and exhibiting series of work with titles such as "Flaming Monuments" , "Paper Monuments", "Power Monuments", "Monument to the Victims of Circumstance" and many more. In the summer of 1998, he visited northern Scotland for the first time. While in Aberdeenshire, he began the first visit inspiring a continuing interest in ancient stone circles and monuments of Great Britain. Since that first visit, Slade has returned to Scotland, England and Northern Wales to experience first hand the monuments of pre-historic Britain. He has visited some thirty sites and is planning a visit to the islands of Scotland in the summer of 2002. This page is a brief documentation of those site visits and the some of the subsequent art work which has resulted from these experiences. |
