"Remembering Leadership in the Struggle"

My project is about the history of African-American freedom and all the people that contributed to the cause. To present this I used Civil Rights leaders, Abolitionists, and important people in the equalization of the gap between Black and White. The rocks in the box stand for strength. The tack for the sharpness of the movement, also for understanding that there will be pain in success. It can also stand for the fact that you can only press an issue so far before there is resistance and eventually blood. The railroad tie with the blood on it is used to represent the togetherness of the movement. The people are the railroad ties and without them all holding the movement together the common goal is lost. Just like the train, if the ties are missing the train will derail. I thought that my project makes it more known that there are others in the Civil Rights movement that made things happen. They might not have been directly in the spotlight, but without all people involved people like Martin Luther King Jr. would just be another Black man. I think that it is important to remember that the leaders of this movement were important, but do not forget those with whom they were fighting, the common man and woman looking for the same rights given in the Constitution to ALL people.
