Frankenstein's monster

Welcome to the home page for NDEP 110: Horror in Film and Story. Students in this first year seminar course will read and discuss horror fiction such as "Frankenstein", "Dracula" and "The Turn of the Screw", as well as short stories by Poe, Lovecraft, LeFanu, Polidori and others. They will also view and discuss seminal horror films that illustrate the genre. You can read the syllabus for the class by clicking here.



Mary Shelley, Who wrote "Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus" when she was only 19 years old, is a hero of mine.  You can find lots of information about her at the sites below.

Cthulhu Mythos. You will find lots of information about Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos at this site, including information about the "Great Old Ones".

More about Lovecraft, his life, his writing, etc.

Many comparisons have been made between Edgar Allan Poe and H. P. Lovecraft. Robert Bloch, auhor of Psycho, wrote a brief essay on the subject that you may find interesting.
