Photos of the schoolhouse from the film “The Birds

This is a view of the schoolhouse from the motion picture “The Birds”, directed by Alfred Hitchcock.  The building is located in Bodega,CA,  not Bodega Bay as in the film.  Bodega is located about 5 miles inland from Bodega Bay.  This is the building where the children were attacked after the birds gathered in the school playground in one of the most frightening scenes in the movie.

Another view of the same building.  The building is now a private residence, but it was a bed and breakfast, called "the Schoolhouse Inn" when we visited in 1989.  In the most recent pictures of the house on the web, the trim has been repainted white.

We were allowed by the owner to come inside the bed and breakfast when we visited.  This is a view of the first floor inside the building at that time.  The schoolroom chalkboard is still visible at the front of the room.

This is a view of the road in front of the schoolhouse.  In the film, the children ran down this road toward the diner at the foot of the hill as the birds attack. The diner is actually located in Bodega Bay, not at the end of this road.

This is a scene from the film, showing the children running from the schoolhouse as the birds attack. The children are running down the road shown in the above photo.
