The Mosque and Tomb of Imam Asim
Near Hotan, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonoumous Region,
People's Republic of China

Imam Asim (Hashim) was one of the first Islamic missionaries to the southern Tarim Basin. He is said to have died in battle against the Buddhist kingdom of Khotan in the 11th century. The mosque and tomb are about 23 km north (and slightly east) of the center of Hotan (Hotan, Hetian) just beyond the edge of the sand.

The mosque is about one kilometer north of the parking lot;
an easy walk through the sand. And the parking lot is just off the road.
