Street Scene in Varanasi, India 14” X 18” oil painting on canvas

The month following Diwali (the festival of lights in India) is the Ganga festival in Varanasi, India.
During the month of the festival tens of thousands of people go to the banks of the Ganges to bathe and pray.
The last day of the month is special, and more than the usual number of people make the
morning pilgrimage to the Ganges. This painting depicts just one of the many streets
jammed with people making their way in the morning to the river.
