Lacrymatory or tear-bottle, repository of certain tears shed
by one Ahab, captain of the whaleship Pequod, as he left
Nantucket on the morning after his marriage-day.  The
ship was eventually lost at sea.with all but one of those who
sailed on her; the lacrymatory, consequently, was long
treasured by Ahab's widow, Mary, still a young woman
at the time of his death.  Provenance: Coffin Inn.
