Nu Iota Cast Constitution
ARTICLE II - ELECTION TO MEMBERSHIP
Section I
Candidates shall be elected to membership in accordance with the specifications in the by-laws by the Membership committee, composed of active members of the cast.
Section II
The Membership committee shall be run by the Understudy Educators. Their job shall be to gather the point cards, tally the points, and bring the results to the brotherhood. Final point determinations for those not yet exceeding the required number of points shall be determined by the directors of any of the shows in which the prospective Understudies were involved (if the director is not a member of Alpha Psi Omega, a person from APO who was closely related with said show shall be used in place of the director). Any brother who wishes to participate in the proceedings may do so at the understanding that the director or APO brother involved has the final say.
Section III
If it is not possible to organize a Membership committee, the Faculty Director may determine eligibility, but in all cases membership must be determined in accordance with the specifications in Article II.
Section IV
It shall be the duty of the director of any given production to define major and minor roles and walk-ons, prior to casting.
Section V
Initiation shall take place at least once a year, but not more than twice a year. The first ritual shall be during Fall Term and the second during Spring Term. At least two persons must be eligible at the time of initiation for the ritual to take place.
Initiation shall be alcohol and drug free. When asked by a Pleebe (Understudy) for their favorite drinks, Cast Members are only allowed to ask for Non-Alcoholic Beverages. Any alcoholic beverages or drugs brought to Initiation shall be confiscated by the President of the Cast. If a Member of the Cast comes to Initiation intoxicated they shall be asked to leave out of respect for our organization and the Ceremony of Initiation.
Section VI
Honorary membership shall be conferred upon non-student individuals who have prolonged and documented support and participation of Hartwick Theatre. Honorary members shall be elected by majority vote of the cast membership. Initiation shall take place at the discretion of the cast membership.
Section VII
An inactive member is one who has missed three consecutive meetings and/or rehearsals without the permission of the Vice President (Stage Manager), or one who has not paid their fees. An inactive member loses their voting privilege. The Stage Manager shall keep a record of members’ attendance and alert members when they are in danger of becoming inactive. In order to reactivate their voting membership, a fine of $3.00 will be assessed and said individual will have to attend two consecutive meetings before full rights of active membership are reinstated. At the second meeting, the delinquent member must announce their intention to reactivate. If a member becomes inactive, they will be notified of the fact and of the procedures necessary to reactivate by the Stage Manager.
ARTICLE III - OFFICERS AND DUTIES
Section I
The officers of the cast shall be the Cast President (Director), Vice President (Stage Manager), Business Manager, Historian, and two Understudy Educators, unless there are not enough brothers due to low membership.

Section III
It shall be the duty of the Vice President (Stage Manager) to keep an accurate record of all proceedings at meeting, to do correspondence of the Fraternity, and, in the absence of the Director, assume their responsibilities. In the event the Director is unable to fulfill their term, the Stage Manager will take over the directorial office, and a new Stage Manager will be elected. It is their duty to enforce all aspects of the Constitution and call Constitutional Meetings with the Executive Board to discuss problems or disputes as they arise. The Stage Manager will also keep the roll of all meetings and rehearsals.
Section IV
It shall be the duty of the Business Manager to collect all dues and assessments of the members, to pay bills sanctioned by the Fraternity, to keep an account of all receipts and expenditures, to read a report of financial status at each regular meeting, and to prepare an annual budget to be presented before Student Senate.

It shall be the duty of the Historian to keep all records concerning past and current cast members. They must acquire a photographer and submit photos of at least one play a year to Playbill, the Alpha Psi Omega magazine. They are also responsible for Alumni Relations, establishing and continuing relations with alumni. There will also be a photo album of all the theatre activities at Hartwick, kept in Archives and maintained by the Historian. The Historian will also collect and destroy the negatives and any unused pictures from the Understudy Photo Album.

It shall be the duty of the Intercast Ambassador to act as a liason between Nu Iota and other casts.
Section VII
It is the responsibility of the Understudy Educators to run ‘rehearsals’ or ‘get togethers’ of the current understudies to the cast. They will also present reports at each meeting about up-coming ‘rehearsals’ and the agendas for those ‘rehearsals.’
**Rehearsal: educational meetings with Understudy Educators, current cast members, and current understudies to the cast. Purpose: to present information regarding cast, such as the history of the cast, which might be fundamental to their education of the cast. To prepare for initiation through receiving information regarding APO and the Nu Iota Cast as well as getting to know the current cast members and fellow understudies.
It shall be the duty of the Understudy Educator(s) to make sure that within one week of giving out bids all of the Bigs shall decorate the door of their Little. If a Little does not have a door to be decorated (i.e. the Little lives off campus) a suitable replacement activity must be presented to the group, and, if deemed suitable, the replacement activity must take place within the same week. Alpha Psi Omega shall purchase all of the decorations for the doors of the Understudies. If an activity is brought up in front of the cast and deemed not constructive, it will NOT be done. As to the signatures of the Honoraries: The Understudies shall be given a uniform sheet with questions to ask the Honoraries. The questions will be decided upon by the active members of the Cast. The same goes for the signatures of the current Cast members, the active Cast shall decide on questions the Understudies need to ask individual members in order to get the signature that is required for the Props Game. As to the Understudy Photo Album: The negatives for the pictures are to be turned in to the Historian along with the extra pictures at Initiation. (This alleviates fears as to what may happen if the negatives get lost.)
