About 200m south of the structure at Krasnosamarskoe was excavation Y, at the edge of a stream flowing into the lake/marsh. It produced a very low-density cluster of Srubnaya pottery and animal bone perhaps 30m across. People using the stream discarded cattle mandibles and some other cattle bones and broke a few pots here. Studies of the cattle teeth show that they were butchered in the late Fall. This peripheral deposit had intercept radiocarbon dates of 1740-1730 calBC, so was contemporary with the Srubnaya occupation in the central settlement. |
